Ronny Svarto was born and raised in the Vilhelmina mountains in Västerbotten County and has lived most of his life in a mountain environment. For the past 47 years, he has lived and worked year-round on a state-run mountain farm on Vardofjäll.
Ronny has long and practically grounded work experience. He has worked as a construction worker, reindeer butcher and moose butcher. In addition, he has been a truck driver responsible for reindeer transport and has participated in reindeer fence work and wilderness transport.
In parallel, he has engaged in small-scale farming and animal husbandry at the mountain farm. His experience spans several decades of working closely with nature.
Politically, Ronny is a registered Sámi in the Sámi Parliament and has served as a member of the Sámi Parliament in plenary for two terms, a total of eight years. He has also served as a member of the Wilhelmina Municipality's political bodies for three terms, a total of twelve years.
Furthermore, Ronny has served as a lay judge at Lycksele District Court. He is particularly engaged in reducing micromanagement and unnecessary fees for residents and small-scale operations in rural areas, in order to create better conditions for local small businesses.
