Barbara Åberg is an action-oriented entrepreneur with over forty years of experience in business, service, and organisational work. She began her career in the advertising industry in the eighties. Subsequently, she has run her own businesses in several sectors, including catering, conference operations, and restaurants.
In the nineties, Barbara worked internationally and built business contacts in Russia. She was based in Saint Petersburg for a long period. She has also lived and worked abroad periodically, including in London and in Bahia, Brazil. This has given her broad international experience.
Barbara has had assignments within the public sector. Among other things, she has worked as a consultant at a catering college and participated in the planning of the conference department and lunch operations at the County Administrative Board in Stockholm. For seven years, she worked for the Bishop of Lund with overall responsibility for representation, events, and hospitality, including budget, purchasing, staff, and execution.
For many years, she has worked with food, health, and service in various capacities. She has also gained practical experience in elderly care to gain a deeper insight into social issues.
She became politically involved in youth politics early on. Later, she has held positions in municipal politics, including on the municipal council and within the social welfare committee's work.
Barbara is also passionate about motorsport, just like thousands of others in Sweden. As a teenager, she started racing go-karts. As an adult, she progressed to circuit racing with a standard car.
Barbara is known for her entrepreneurial spirit, her independence and her straightforward style. She has taken part in public debate and contributed to independent media. In Sweden’s otherwise biased mainstream media landscape, she endeavours to offer a more balanced perspective on issues relating to Russia and the war in Ukraine, and to highlight viewpoints from various sides of the conflict. She is currently involved with Ambition Sverige and is standing as a candidate for the Riksdag.
