Team member for
Environment and Climate

Göran Värmby is from Gothenburg and started his career as a campaign leader at Greenpeace Sweden in the 1980s, where he mainly demanded an end to chlorine bleaching of paper pulp and action programmes against environmental toxins. He was then recruited by the then Minister for the Environment, Birgitta Dahl, to the Gothenburg Environmental Project, an initiative to radically improve the environment in Gothenburg. Not least was the ambition to significantly reduce emissions from Volvo and the refineries. Göran has also worked with well-known politicians such as Ingvar Carlsson (S), Anna Lindh and he has been active at the business office in Gothenburg.

Göran also has a solid career as a consultant in the environmental field with clients such as Statoil, Astra, Schenker, Bilspedition, various municipalities, SNF and many more. He was also engaged by Göran Persson (S) in the environmental group for the UN Rio meeting and he was for some years environmental manager in Gothenburg and advisor to Göran Johansson, former municipal councilor in Gothenburg on environmental issues.

For several years Göran was involved in a wide range of projects abroad in countries such as South Africa, India and China. In recent years Göran Värmby has been a columnist on the editorial page of Göteborgsposten.
