Gunilla Edelstam was born in Luleå and grew up in Kalmar and Stockholm. She participated as a Miss Sweden candidate after graduating from high school and then worked in the fashion world, mainly in Paris. She trained as a lawyer and holds a Bachelor of Laws, a Doctor of Laws and an Associate Professor. She has worked with teaching and research in Sweden but also at European universities. Her main focus has been on the legal conditions of the state and administrative authorities and the implementation of EU law in national law. Research in this area has also been conducted together with colleagues from other EU countries, for example in: The Implementation of the EU Services Directive: Transposition, Problems and Strategies: (pp. 589-632).
